The bee has long been a symbol of community, devotion, sweetness, creation, and abundance… a small, dedicated creature whose work is essential to the flourishing of the world around it 🌍
Bees remind us that meaningful things are often created through many small acts of devotion 🫶🏻
‘The Golden Messenger’ explores this energy through my vivid, layered, multimedia piece.
My bee emerges from a richly textured backdrop of deep burgundy, crimson, teal, ochre, copper and antique gold. Layers of acrylic paint and ink are built up and partially obscured, creating movement and depth throughout the background ❤️
Fine marker work, splashes, drips, glitter, and fragments of gold foil catch the light, while the bee itself is defined with intricate linework and luminous metallic detail ✨
The contrast between the dark body of the bee… and the chaotic, colourful landscape surrounding it speaks to finding purpose within the noise… and creating something beautiful through persistence, connection and intention 😌
Gold foil and glitter bring an element of illumination to the piece, mimicking the preciousness of honey and the idea of turning everyday work into something of lasting value 👑
The bee’s message is one of devotion without depletion, sweetness without apology, and remembering that even the smallest acts of creation can have an enormous impact.
